Slip-Cast Pottery

ABOUT TOP NOTCH CERAMICS AND ARTIST LISA CARSON

I’ve always been involved in some type of hand craft. My grandmother taught me how to crochet with cotton thread at age 5, making cross bookmarks.

Over the years I have tried all types of crafts. I was fascinated with making things by hand. Bible school introduced me to handcrafts, including painting, drawing, and needlepoint.

Since 1993, I have been hand crafting slip-cast pottery. I really love doing it.

My long-time friend, Virginia, took me into her ceramic shop and taught me everything she knew. We are still close friends as she approaches 80 years old.

In the last 25 years, I have never given up on ceramics. I kept making unique pieces while acquiring vintage molds that no longer exist. Cast pieces from the 1960s and forward are made in our shop.

We never stop adding to our cast collection. We have about 3,000 molds and growing.

Now I have drawn my family and my best friend Bonnie into my love of ceramic pottery. We all add our creative flair to our designs. From casting to painting, we all add our unique interpretation.

Check back often to see what is new and different. Maybe you are feeling retro and want a new “old piece” with vintage roots. You will never be disappointed at what you will find.
